Kelara Lacquers Review and Swatches

Hello everyone! Today I am bringing to you a review of some polishes by a fairly new name in the Indie world. Kelara Lacquers is run by a very creative couple, Kellen and Tara. They are such a cute couple and they work on their line of polishes together and apparently the idea to start making polish was Kellen’s idea! How cool is that?  I was sent 3 colors for this review: Jupiter, Silver & Gold and Hooray for Boobies!
So let’s get to it!

Jupiter: A reddish-purple base with micro holo glitter. Part of the Planetary collection.

All photos of Jupiter show 1 coat topped with 1 coat of SV.

Jupiter, to me, has a sort of color sift and a slight undertone of taupe at certain angles and in the right lighting, which I had a hard time capturing along with the holo of the glitter since the sun was not cooperating.

The formula was a little on the thick side, which caused it to drag towards the tips, but a few drops of thinner helped that out. Jupiter is so opaque that it was really a 1 coater!

Silver & Gold: A metallic silver base packed full of gold holo hexes. Part of the Festivus for the Rest of Us collection.

All photos of Silver & Gold are shown as 1 coat over 1 coat Spoiled Daddy's Credit Card topped with 1 coat GF and 1 coat SV.

There is a lot, and when I say at lot I mean A LOT, of holo to the glitter in this! It shows like crazy, just not in my light box! Here is a blurred picture to show off just some of the holo.

This picture really doesn't even capture how much rainbow it really puts off, but believe me it's there.

Again a bit on the thick side, but thinner really helped out with this. This is a very different kind of polish then what I’ve used before in the sense that I never had one that was a metallic base with glitter. There is a ton of glitter in this and with just one coat you get so much on the nail. The first swatches I did looked super clumpy and even with a coat of Glitter Food it didn't look smoothed out. Therefore I decided to use undies so there was less glitter and it didn't look so clumpy, this really helped out.

Hooray for Boobies!: A pink creme with a subtle purple shimmer. Part of the Colors for a Cause collection*

All photos of Hooray for Boobies! show 2 coats topped with 1 coat of SV.

The purple shimmer is there but pretty impossible to capture on camera. I was hoping for some sun to try and get it but no such luck. Stupid cold weather!

Like the other 2 this was a bit on the thick side and was again taken care of with a few drops of thinner.
*I would like to note that for each mini purchased  $1 will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, as well as $2 for each full sized bottle purchased! Kelara Lacquers has a line of 5 polishes in the Colors for a Cause collection that each have a charity connected to it and will have a portion of the proceeds donated with your purchase!

Kelara has a very unique line of nail goodies and also some with a great cause attached!  Go check out their polishes at their etsy store here.. You can also follow them on Facebook here..
